Exactly that. A comic! I had already been working on it for a while, but I decided to come back from my "hiatus" after a recent post of mine went viral on X.com. I'll be honest — I thought making a comic would be easy, but I was completely wrong.

My biggest difficulty is with composition and paneling. I don’t know what shape or format the panels should have to create the feeling I want, and composition is another similar problem for me.

Recently, I watched a Bam Animation video about character design, and they said something that really struck me:

"How can I improve my character design? You might not like it, but the answer is always more study going back to the basics and getting good at drawing. Just like a musician practices over and over, so too should the artist."

This opened my mind — now everything makes sense. I need to return to the fundamentals and really understand the art of drawing comics.

I did some research and found Scott McCloud’s series. I’m going to read it and see if it helps me gain a better vision of how things work.

One more thing before I finish: what was my inspiration?

It all started when I finished watching the third season of Hilda (that Netflix series), and, like I always do after finishing an animated series, I went looking for fanfiction online. I read several, but one caught my attention — it was different and hooked me from the very first chapter.

Its name is The Boy in the Photo by IrishHildaEnthusiast on FanFiction.net. I couldn’t resist and decided to bring it to life.

And that’s what you’re seeing me work on right now.

I still need to contact the original creator of the story first to see if they agree with my project.

I’m not going to claim the story as mine — I’ll give full credit to them for creating such a masterpiece.
